Prof Dr Anneke Smelik (1956) is professor of Visual Culture on the Katrien van Munster chair in the Department of Cultural Studies at the Radboud University of Nijmegen (Netherlands). She studied film and theatre studies at the University of Utrecht and received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Amsterdam. After years of research on visual media such as film, television and videoclips, she has shifted her focus to fashion studies and the creative industries. Anneke Smelik lives with her partner Rosi Braidotti in Utrecht.
